Somjai is a local stationary store which has been with us Thais for over 80 years.
Originally hand drawn by the family’s grandmother and founder of Somjai, the franchise’s logo has been kept and used for over three generations since establishment. Their motto: “The stationary shop that grants you to become anything”, serves as a medium to bridge dreams to reality.
When young, we’d transform pens and pencils into robots, or pile up erasers and call it a house. We were free to grab whatever is in arm’s reach and bring them to life with our imaginative minds. Yet, when years of conformation, rules and regulations take its toll, even what once was vibrant may seem to fade in colour.
It is our hopes that by compiling Somjai's well recognized stationeries with perhaps overlooked lesser known items, this collection will allow space for imagination and evoke again, that childlike creator in us.
We work according to plan, assembling an “Object” that no one knows what it is. Retouch work is kept at a minimum to portray, as much as possible, the actual state of things. Lighting and colours are freely painted on the backdrop.
